A Story to Live by, A Story to Die for?

The signs of the times are challenging people of faith to think deeply about what faith really means to them. What story is guiding our own journeys of faith? Is it primarily a love story, or a guilt trip? Are we merely paying lip service to the one who reveals the Way, or is the Jesus story truly a vision for which we are willing to spend our lives?

During this week’s retreat, celebrated retreat leader Margaret Sif will help you consider, with fresh eyes, what story truly inspires this kind of fire, and how it impacts our lived experience, day by day. She writes: “We will observe together some of the ‘signs of the times’ and the stories that help guide our journey, using wisdom stories and parables, old and new, and sharing stories of our own that truly, and relevantly, speak to the challenge of living by faith in the 21st century.”

All are welcome, of any religious affiliation or of none. Please bring an open heart and an open mind.

Margaret Silf is an ecumenical lay Christian, committed to working across and beyond the denominational divides and to accompanying people on their spiritual journey. She is the author of a number of books on the spiritual journey for 21st century pilgrims who may or may not identify with institutional religion. She is a regular and much-loved contributor at Ammerdown: “Margaret is wonderful: gentle, simple and holy”; “She always manages to be deeply spiritual and yet down at everyone’s level”; “Margaret Silf is a brilliant retreat leader with authority but also a light touch and a great sense of humour. One can’t fault her”.

* Margaret is leading a weekend course at Ammerdown just before this retreat. We are offering a special rate of £645 for both events and the stay in-between.

Led by: Margaret Silf
