Clare Clensy trained on a three year apprenticeship at the Royal School of Needlework and has been teaching hand embroidery for more than fifteen years, gaining valuable experience and a wealth of stitching knowledge. She is the author of ‘A Beginners Guide to Silk Shading’ and has written many magazine articles. She has designed her own range of embroidery kits which cover most traditional hand embroidery techniques.
This course will offer you an opportunity to stitch a landscape of your choice using a variety of basic hand embroidery stitches, such as straight stitch, fly stitch, French knots and detached chain stitch. The background can be covered with layers of sheer fabric or simply stitched.
Both beginners and experienced stitchers are welcome.
Clare will supply a selection of outline designs, ideas and materials which can be expanded upon by changing the seasons or elements of the landscape, such as the flowers, trees, gates and walls to make it your own individual piece.
Students can either bring their own project to work on, together with their own material, or purchase a kit from Clare when at Ammerdown. There will be a variety of designs to choose from, with costs ranging from £9.50 to £16.50.
