Holocaust - Remembering and the Dangers of Forgetting

Dame Helen Hyde is a Fellow of the Imperial War Museum (Holocaust Studies) and has completed studies
at the Centre for Holocaust Studies at the Institute of Education in London. She was appointed a National
Holocaust Commissioner and chaired the educational work stream of this Foundation. She is a Trustee of the
Holocaust Education Trust, the Anne Frank Trust and the National Holocaust Centre and Museum. She is an
advisor to the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust. She is a Holocaust educator and leads many adult study trips to Holocaust touched countries. She chairs the Board of Trustees for the Jewish Heritage Foundation. In 2012 she was made Dame Commander of the British Empire (DBE) for services to national education and Holocaust Education.

Helen was a board member of FASNA, Freedom & Autonomy for Schools – National Association. She is the patron of and commissioner for the National Religious Education Council, as well as an active patron of the Rwandan Sisterhood and leads an annual working educational trip to Rwanda to support genocide touched women. On her retirement as Headteacher at Watford Grammar School in 2016, Helen set up a new charity with the Vicar of Watford – R to R, Refugees to Recovery.
