Living Theology- The Church and the World

Last year’s Living Theology at Ammerdown proved extremely popular and sold out quickly. With its special combination of teaching, discussion, liturgy and community, Living Theology 2015 offers one again a unique opportunity to explore, in a sympathetic and informed environment, aspects of the Christian faith which can be controversial or problematic.

Our broad theme for the weekend will be The Church and the World. Participants will attend two series of three lectures. Fr Mike Smith SJ will address the theme of Scientists finding God, looking specifically at the relationship which exists, or should exist, between science and faith. Fr Martin Poulsom SDB will explore wider aspects of the relationship between Christians and the modern world, in the light of Pope Francis’ Evangelium Gaudii, and in the context of the recent synod and the ongoing discussions which it has generated. Fr Gerry Hughes SJ will give two plenary lectures investigating what we mean by ‘the truth’ of the infancy and resurrection narratives in the gospels. All three lecturers, from their own individual viewpoints, will have something to say about fundamentalism - how it can be understood, and why and how it should be countered.

Details of the weekend, including appropriate application details, will be available on the Living theology website (www.livingtheology.org.uk) from January 1st 2015. If you should need information before January, please email john@johnmerrigan.com.

Please note that all the bookings will be made by Living Theology, not the Ammerdown Centre.
