A Mindfulness Meditation Retreat

Let’s reclaim the truly human! Free yourself from being a data-set, a social media presence, a consumer or a technology-driven multi-tasker. This retreat offers a foundation for your own life-long development of personal mindfulness - with coping strategies to take back into our demanding world.

With the help of mindfulness expert Hilary Armstrong, you will look at how the Eastern practice of Meditation became Mindfulness through the secular programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn over thirty years ago, now part of mainstream society. With the help of various meditation and mindfulness practices, you will stop, look, listen, sit in poised silence or get the energy flowing with gentle mindful movement. You will tune in to what the body is telling us, and to the way mind and body work together. And, with a gentle, good-humoured look at the external and internal pressures that drive and distract us, you will practise the power of being fully present.

The ultimate aim is that, as you learn to let go of the fuss and bother of life, you will start to tap into your own resources of wellbeing, kindness and wisdom.

So, step back from anxiety and stress; if the ‘to-do’ list and pressures of 24/7 are running you ragged, this course is for you!

Suitable for beginners, and for those wishing to refresh their personal practice.

Led by: Hilary Armstrong

Please arrive by 6pm on Monday. Course ends with lunch on Friday.

Hilary Armstrong has studied with many distinguished meditation teachers, especially at Samye Ling Tibetan Centre in Scotland. She trained in mindfulness-based therapy at both Oxford University and Exeter University Mindfulness Centres, and has been running regular courses and retreats in the West Country since 2007. Meditation and Mindfulness chime in very well with her passion for opera and with her involvement in community theatre as an actor and director.

Suitable for beginners, and for those wishing to refresh their personal practice.
