Scriptual Reasoning Workshop with Hilary Marlow

Why is reading the Bible so important for Christians and the Qur’an for Muslims?  In what ways do these sacred Scriptures differ from each other and what do they have in common? How do they relate to issues in contemporary society?

This day-long workshop will use the practice of Scriptural Reasoning (SR) to examine these and other questions about the Bible and Qur’an. SR is a way of exploring sacred scriptures across faith boundaries, where people of different faiths come together to read and reflect on their scriptures.  The workshop will help participants to understand more about Christianity and Islam, to go deeper into their own faith tradition and to develop lasting friendships. You will learn about the ways the two faith traditions approach their scriptures, then spend time in groups reading texts together, discussing and learning from each other in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Open to people of any faith or none.

The workshop is being held in conjunction with Rose Castle Foundation.

Led by experienced SR coordinators Dr Hilary Marlow and Ms Nadiya Takolia. Hilary is a Trustee of Rose Castle Foundation and currently leads a research project on Science and Scripture in Christianity and Islam at the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion. Nadiya previously managed Scriptural Reasoning for the Cambridge Inter-Faith Programme and is currently studying for an MA in Islamic Studies from SOAS University.

The workshop is being held in conjunction with the ‘Rose Castle Foundation’ and will be facilitated by Dr Hilary Marlow, one of the Foundation’s Trustees. Hilary is an experienced SR coordinator who currently leads a research project on ‘Science and Scripture in Christianity and Islam’ at the ‘Faraday Institute for Science and Religion’.
