The Art of Memoir Writing - How to start writing your own life story

Writing your own story is a wonderfully healing and fulfilling process. Whether it is for your children and grandchildren or just for yourself, for publication or self-publishing, a memoir will help make sense of your journey, and provide an opportunity to reflect on the deeper meaning of your life.

This workshop will provide a safe, supportive and confidential space where you will learn ways to create your own memoir for the best possible results. With the help of professional writer and tutor Rosie Jackson, you will reflect on audience, purpose and inspiration; tackle issues of structure, shape, voice, tense, and narrative; practice dialogue (and humour!); consider spiritual and ethical issues; and look at some successful contemporary memoirs for inspiration and guidance.

Rosie has already had several works of fiction and non-fiction published, and her own memoir, ‘The Glass Mother’, was published in November 2016. She feels passionately about the healing power of the creative arts and has been running successful writing workshops for over twenty years (including workshops specifically on memoir-writing for the last three years). She has taught at the University of East Anglia, trained in counselling, and run writing groups on Skyros and in community settings worldwide. Her spiritual life has taken her to India and a Sufi training in California.
