The Cross of Christ Today

Six meditations/reflections on the cross which is the central symbol associated with Jesus Christ and his followers. The meditations will offer reflection on some key contemporary issues such as deaths of refugees seeking safety; women on the frontline of suffering and struggle; models of leadership; the cross in a multifaith world; love, grief and life; and the silence/word of God.

On Lampadusa there is what the locals call a ‘Boat Cemetry’. The cross in the photograph is made from a refugee boat that sank in the Mediterranean Sea just off Lampadusa Island. This cross is a sign of prayer and work for a world without war.
