This holistic and hands-on day will be spent, weather permitting, outdoors in the beautiful and tranquil grounds of Ammerdown. It will appeal to those interested in the therapeutic aspects of creativity and crafts, and does not require any prior weaving experience. Beginners and experienced weavers will be equally welcome.
Working with traditional back-strap looms, participants will take part in, and have creative control over each aspect of the weaving process, from warp design, warp winding and loom threading, to the weaving itself. We will be working towards creating natural landscapes informed by the surrounding environment, and will be exploring the possibilities of a diverse range of weft materials, textures and colours. Participants will be encouraged to work intuitively with the materials that they are drawn to work with so as to create a unique piece of textile art.
