John has chosen to lead the weekend on one of his favourite themes, ‘The Unsung Jesus’, which gives him the opportunity to combine teaching on the life of Jesus with music and songs from the Iona community. He will reflect on some often ignored dimensions of Jesus' teaching, through scripture, images and meditation. And he will share with us some of the beautiful hymns and music created at Iona.
Led by: John Bell
Please arrive by 6pm on Friday. Course ends with lunch on Sunday.
John Bell does not need much of an introduction. He is an ordained minister of the Church of Scotland and a Member of the Iona Community, where he works full time in the areas of music and worship. Not only is he personally responsible for a long list of hymns and anthems sung in churches around the world, but he also is a popular teacher on Iona-Celtic-Christian approaches to prayer, worship and work with the world’s most needy communities. He is an occasional broadcaster, lectures in theological colleges in Britain and the USA, but is primarily concerned with the renewal of congregational worship at grassroots level.
