This year, both eastern and western churches keep these two great feasts on the same dates. This happens not, alas, by agreement, but rather because their respective calendars happen to coincide.

Can we seize this opportunity to pray and work for unity and cooperation? This is so needed, given the war between Russia and Ukraine, with all the suffering and misery that flow from the use of force. 

Somerset and surrounding counties have responded generously to a new wave of refugees. That should lead to closer co-operation between the great faiths, with new links between leaders in science and religion.
